I have had the pleasure to know Mrs. Duno in many roles over the past several years. She taught my child in the traditional school classroom, through virtual tutoring and classes, and she partnered with me for an amazing year of homeschooling. In each of these modalities one thing was consistent. She greeted my girls with a warm, friendly smile, treated them respectfully, and ignited their passion for reading, writing, history, math and Spanish. I had a child in second and fifth grades. Both showed tremendous, measurable growth in reading, language, and math. The academic growth is very important to me, and equally important is that they developed a relationship with an educator who inspires them to find their unique contribution to their world, enjoy reading, write meaningfully, and find the fun in the process. As a virtual teacher expectations were clearly explained and followed creating a structured, personalized learning environment. She has proven to be reliable and punctual. I could tell she puts a lot of planning into all her lessons. As a homeschool teacher we worked together to determine which subject areas to cover. We collaborated on individualized topics to be covered, and how the children would be evaluated.
